Recently, our letterbox stopped working at our rented apartment, so I had to write an email in German to our Hausmeister.
In my German language class, we practiced writing letters, so it felt like perfect timing.
Side-note: people don't really seem to say "mail" in Europe when speaking English, rather they say "post."There is a translation of my message:
Ladies and gentlemen,
Both my wife and I have tried and failed to open our mailbox (with separate keys.) Normally, it works, but since yesterday we’re seeing the problem.
Some information that might help fix it: I put my cell phone with the light in it, and I’m 90% sure there isn’t any mail stuck.
Please let us know an estimate for when it will be fixed as we often receive important mail.
